Earlier in the day, Messi scored two goals in Inter Miami’s impressive 5-0 victory against Orlando City at Chase Stadium, marking their second win of the new MLS season. His friend Luis Suarez also found the back of the net twice, with Robert Taylor adding another goal for the hosts. With Messi completing a brace in the second half, it was a fantastic day for Miami, now with seven points from three games. The pair was seen celebrating Antonela’s 36th birthday at Gekko in Miami over the weekend.
Five days past her 36th birthday, the Miami WAG was seen out with her husband Leo at a Japanese-inspired steakhouse in Miami called Gekko. The couple posed in front of a large birthday cake adorned with pictures of Antonela and her family. Messi took to his Instagram to publicly wish his childhood sweetheart a happy birthday, referring to her as ‘Princess’ and expressing his love for her. The couple, along with their three children Thiago, Matteo, and Ciro, were photographed on her special day surrounded by colorful balloons, a Pocahontas cardboard sign, and a ‘Happy Birthday Anto’ wall sticker. Antonela, now 36, shared a series of family photos on her Instagram with the caption ‘Un ano mas viejita,’ meaning ‘one year older’ in English. Victoria Beckham also sent her wishes to Antonela on Instagram, posting a picture of the two during what seemed like a girls’ lunch. With seven upcoming matches in Miami and a call-up from Argentina for two exhibitions in March, Saturday marked the start of a busy month for Messi.
Antonela celebrated her real birthday on Monday, and Messi made sure to give her a shoutout on Instagram. Miami coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino mentioned that Messi’s playing time will be closely watched to avoid overexertion. Along with playing in five league games, Inter Miami will also compete against Nashville SC in the CONCACAF Nations Cup round of 16. Argentina has upcoming matches against El Salvador on March 22 and Costa Rica on March 26, which will serve as a warm-up for the Copa America tournament happening later in the summer.
